Neal Cohen, professor of psychology and head of the Interdisciplinary Health Sciences Institute (IHSI), now leads the new Center for Brain Plasticity with co-director and fellow psychology professor Aron Barbey. The Center brings together researchers from across the University of Illinois campus to advance understanding of the brain and its power to change through experience and external influences.
Cohen commented in an IHSI post about the Center launch that “There is tremendous strength and interest in brain plasticity across multiple campus units at Illinois, and a long history here of significant advances in this field. The new center provides a hub for basic and translational research that aims to measure, model, and elicit brain plasticity through scientific discovery, technological innovations, and clinical application.”
The new Center may offer exciting new opportunities for the field of miniature brain machinery, as our trainees continue to advance related interdisciplinary research in brain science.
